TOCRA AND TOLMEITA

The Greek city of Tocra (anciently known as Teukira) was one of the first harbors installed by Cyrene. To enter in the ruins of the city it needs to pass through the doors of an ancient Turkish castle, built on the foundations of a church, with some graves around. Tolmeita (once known as Tolemaide) is situated along a beautiful line of coast and the site is extended on a rather vast area. In the near village a museum picks up finds of the city.
